Playground

Design Criteria:
  • Playground should be a place to get messy and dirty for the kids.
  • Fun and exciting.
  • Encurage expoloration and play with other kids.
  • Look and feel of the Arabasta Kingdom.

The One Piece playground design will be based off of the Arabasta Kingdom.

The playground will be divided into several areas to correspond with the key locations of Arabasta. The playground will also be divided by a small waterway just like on the map.

At its core the Arabasta playground is a giant sandbox and water playground. This is done the replicate the sand dunes of Arabasta in the show.

All of the areas are connected by ruins and passages under the playground that the kids can run in and explore.

This brings me to the first area of Arabasta: The Yuba Oasis and the Erumalu Ruins.
The two areas are connected . The Yuba Oasis is a small watering hole that has a rope swing that kids can climb on and use to jump into the oasis. Oasis also has many rope climbing obstacles. The Erumalu Ruins that are connected to the Oasis are an extension of the rope climbing obstacles that connect to mini buildings that look like the ancient ruins in the story. This will allow the kids to run all over the ruins but still have the safety net just in case.

North of the Oasis is the Rainbase Casino. Although not an actual casino for the playground the Rainbase locaton will still feature the building with the giant golden crocodile.

The golden crocodile will become a big twisty slide for the kids to ride down. Its mouth will become one of the entrances to the underground ruins that connect the different areas. The building of the casino will also severe as a small climbing obstacle the kids will use to get the the giant crocodile

To the east is the waterway that bisects the playground. Kids can choose to cross the river on foot and get wet (which many will) or cross using the giant crab.

The crab, named Scissors in the show, was used to ferry the Straw Hats across the river dividing Arabasta. For the playground the Scissors will act as a rocking bridge for kids to play on and cross on their way to the Palace. Scissors legs will also act like slides that lead into the water way.

The Arabasta Palace is another location in the playground. The palace is set up to be a huge mini building with lots of room to run. The main feature at the palace is the water cannons that the kids can use to shoot each other with. The main cannon however is the the main character Luffy. In the show Luffy uses his ability to become a human water gun.

This form is called Mizu Luffy. The kids can squeeze Mizu Luffy's rubber body to squirt water at people entering the castle.

Finally the last segment of the playground is the port city of Nanohana. The area will be a mini replica of the city with more water cannons on top of the buildings that will be able to shoot and reach the Palace.

In the show the rebel forces are engaged in a battle with the forces of the place. The water cannons will help in replicating the battle in a more child appropriate  setting. In the actual port of Nanohana there will be a mini replica of the Straw Hat ship Going Merry that will connect Nanohana to the Oasis, thus completing a circle path for kids to follow.
